Morning Chris

I have some recommendations for v1.8 if it's not too late.

I'm new to your products and new to the forum. I have to say the NE British Isles lighting is great and I'm really enjoying it, but I find that to get a realistic effect, I still need a mix of your lights and the Orbx FTX lighting for the UK.

The reason is that, in the UK at least, on secondary roads outside cities/towns, and on rural roads, you only get streetlights depending on whether you're going through a village or another small area of population, or through a significant road junction.

At the moment, NE appears to apply regularly spaced street lights for every road, regardless of type and regardless of location, and this produces an unrealistic effect.

It is, however, realistic for urban roads and for major roads / motorways.

My workaround has been to switch off or turn down the White and Light Yellow lights using NEXM. However, this still leaves the splash map active for those lights, which looks daft, unless I turn off Splash Map completely for the whole set, which of course spoils the effect for Orange and Yellow.

So suggestion 1 is: make splash map togglable by light type, rather than just having 1 universal toggle.

Suggestion 2 is: allow the user more control over density and types of lights shown on minor/rural roads, including "only show lights in areas of population" and "only show lights at junctions". This is probably more difficult I appreciate.

Hope this helps, and thanks again for the great lights!!

Hi Foro,
welcome to our forums,
i am glad to learn you're enjoying our work; it is an important part for us to always hear our customers feedback,
since you're new to NE allow me to educate you a bit,
we factor many features throughout our production,
that included the light type, the specific hieght for the type, and color,
in earlier version we simply grouped our colors together; that doesn't mean they have the same features other then color,
if you have scooped our v2.0 regions; we allow far more control then with previous regions; we also distinguish and created more then one nightmap layer,
we used over 24 new colors across v2.0 standards, as well as added vector traffic data and much more to bring the night scene to life

nexmfrance.thumb.jpg.d315698f562917a282cnexmparis.thumb.jpg.9d9310a8036dfd05944c

more about NEXM here

regarding naightmap and added controls, our concept is in general...
even if you dimm some lights off for whatever reason; we believe the light signature/footprint should remain as part of the "NightMap"
as for the selection where we place our lights that generate these signatures/footprint; we only use real vector data to place our lights,
there is no guess work involved or randomness through landclass; if you place a Photoreal under our lights you will see we follow real world layout and grid,
the lights you use in your mix are not vector based; they are landclass based and are very much random and autogen generated,
that is very different from what we do with Night Environment; you can match our footprint to NASA footprint;
or for that matter click the video tab on top and watch some real world videos compared to Night Environment renditions,
you will also understand why we feel it is important to keep the light footprint even if you decide to switch some off,

Chris, your quick responds are admirable ! Happy new year !

I just purchased NE israel (first NE buy...), minutes before finding there is an issue with p3d 3.1. Still didn't had chance to install it but hopefully i will manage to use it.

Thank you Roi,
no worries in regard to the 3.1 issue; it is being taken care of;
it seems there is some bug causing latency in 3.1 when accessing data files,
it will be fixed soon; i hate saying this... use 3.0 for the time being,
they did such a wonderful job fixing the blend issue with night textures;
this just puts a cloud over the nice work they actually did in 3.1 :(

Beside taking long to load initially, is it still usable in 3.1 ?

Hi Chris,

so i report back, i had to install it manually to p3d cause the installer wanted only FSX folder. So after moving them to p3d folder and adding from library i see only the base no 3d lights at all. Any idea ?

you need to install for P3D 2.5, not FSX!
the installer has been updated to support v2.3 and up,
who did you purchase though? did you download a recent build?

your vendor should have an updated version for you!
Aerosoft support may be able to help in some cases; as its one of their vendors that markets NE for them,

i wish i could do more to help there; sales and such are beyond me,

technically speaking this support site is a curtsey to my end users;
Aerosoft is directly responsible to provide all support for NE line;not me :) (this is just FYI)
i choose to run this site and support our end users directly; on my own free will,
