nothing fancy yet, we are just trying to get back to a normal clean and consistent view,
3.8 VRAM usage at 4K setting, up on the left corner (this is with MAX_TEXTURE_REQUEST_DISTANCE=320000.000000 & all settings and sliders are maxed out!)

Hi Chris.......Whats the performance like when ya compare it to v4? Does this allow for higher settings or was this used with the settings set as we would in v4?

with all settings maxed out we currently see v4 HF3 out perform v5 up to 50%!

I'm hoping the new program will allow the best possible performance.     I'm not one of the users that feel obligated to have every setting maxed out or use maxed out settings as the gauge to P3D success.

we do that routinely as part of our stress testing regiment not a personal preference  :)

I take it that this is not a ringing endorsement for v5?     No use taking the plunge with BM stuff in v5 until the performance improves.

no its not yet, i wish we had better news to share,
v5 is having issues with cycling VRAM which interns leads to multiple performance issue while v4 HF3 just cruises by with no issues,
in a side by side test we recently run we see v5 struggling in an area where v4 is pushing 40-50 frames while v5 can maybe sideshow 15-20 frames,
generally speaking v5 is v4 HF3 plus DX12 integrated, up to date landclass topology, and allot of maturing to do :)

so the settings recommended for v4 are not being used in v5, the settings are being maxed out? What have been the sims performance side by side when the settings you recommend for v4 have been put in place?

we dont normally compare relaxed outfits, they both were maxed out with same settings,
this was actually observed with another project both sims were plain vanilla with no addons beside a single photoreal based scenery,

although improved in HF1, atm v5 still has ways to go,
landclass is still a mess (we fixed some issues for v5), textures missing (we fixed some of these as well for v5),
wrong classifications (we fixed as well for v5), broken DEM's all over, native shaders way off calibration (we tuned to make night look as you see above),
the new atmospheric filter messes things even further, i suspect there will be lots of HF's to come before v5 can be trusted and migrated too,

that's not what i said Carsten!
we worked out the kinks in v5.0 for BM and all our products, CDS v5.0 releases are still happening!
there are other elements in v5.0 unrelated to our work that are still broken, that's all i meant by that,
you can expect v5.0 installers as soon as shop is ready to accommodate,
v5.0 will be supported and developed further just as v4.x was so far,
shop should be ready this week or early on next week,
wheels are in motion B|

v5 is different than v4 there're changes in v5 vs v4,
there will be new dedicated v5 installers not dual v4/5 installer,
when these become available we will notify all shop customers by email,

Will black marble for v5 be a free upgrade for v4 customers or have to buy a new licence?

Welcome to our forums Daniel :)

support for v5 is free for existing v4 owners!

On 5/8/2020 at 2:07 AM, Chris Bell said:

since we didn't change our version, updated installers support for P3D v5.x is FREE for all our products and covers all existing customers with active support program!!!
with ACTIVE being key, anyone purchasing v4.x after we release v5.x installers will only be eligible for 50% discount to update from v4.x to v5.x (v5.x are dedicated installers!),
existing customers with expired support will have 1 year grace period since initial expiration date to reactivate their support and upgrade to v5.x for free as well,

you guys might see v5 appear in your shop accounts by the end of today, maybe the next day or two,
if you do see it listed please wait for our announcement before downloading or activating your v5 license from your shop accounts,
we still have few testing to do before we can announce full release,

i know Don, it might not seem that way but we are too!

we will make sure everyone will know about it in the form of a personal email,

all new v5.0 installers for all our titles are waiting on our severs and can potentially be released at any moment,

as frustrating as it is we have to be diligent and methodical, we authored close to 200 brand new installers the past 3 weeks,

this is our final push, as soon as its possible we will announce v5.0 installers release,

after that push we have Virtual Earth line Installers starting with our free vEarth Demo that also need to be releases ASAP B|
